PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
The Long County Pre-kindergarten (Pre-K) Program is a full-school day program offering young children the opportunity to learn in a preschool setting. The Pre-K Program follows the regular school calendar and the children ride the same system school buses.
A program that gives children extra help to get ready for school
PRE-K HOURS:
7:25 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.:
Parent drop-off, if not riding
the school bus.
8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
School hours (after 8:00
is considered tardy)
2:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.:
Parent pick-up, if not riding
the school bus.
The children learn by doing activities that are hands-on and with manipulatives that are in large group, small group, or individual work settings. They learn school procedures, routines and behavioral expectations. They experience eating in the school cafeteria and riding on a school bus. They learn socialization skills in the classroom and at recess. All this plays a important part in a successful transition from preschool to kindergarten.
The Long County Pre-K program currently has six classes. Classes are limited and each class is staffed by a certified teacher and a licensed paraprofessional. The following are our Pre-K teachers and their Paraprofessional:

2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR ENROLLMENT
The Long County School System will accept applications for the Pre-kindergarten Program for school year 2007-2008 until classes are filled. In order to enrolled, a child must be four years of age on September 1, 2008. Enrollment is on a first come - first served basis. You must provide the following documents:

- Certified Birth Certificate (Passports, Official Medical Documents and /or Official Documents from other countries are acceptable proof of age.)
- Ga. Certificate of Ear, Eye and Dental Examinations (DHR Form 3300)
- Ga. Immunization Certificate (DHR Form 3231)
- Social Security Card
- Proof of Residency - This must be a utility bill in the parent/legal guardian's name with physical address on it.
Your application is not considered to be accepted until it has been completed and returned to the Resource Coordinator and all forms have been checked for inclusion. Completed applications cannot be accepted by mail. You will be notified at the time you return your packet whether or not a space is available.
